When a report is written for business purpose, it is called business report. In other words, business report is written with the intention of supplying information to the managers and helping them in solving business problems.

When we talk about report, we usually indicate business report. Not all reports are business reports. Researchers, scientists, doctors, ministers, students and many others write reports. To be classified as “business report”, a report must contain business related information and serve some business purposes. A business report conveys information to assist in business decision-making. The business report is the medium in which to present this information. Some reports might present the actual solution to solve a business problem; other reports might record past information that is used toward future business planning.

Louis E. Boone and others defined, “A business report is a document that organizes information on a specific topic for a specific business purposes.”

In the opinion of Murphy and Hildebrandt, “A business report is an impartial, objective, planned presentation of facts to one or more persons for a specific, significant business purpose.”

From the above discussion and definitions, it can be said that business report is an orderly and objective presentation of accurate and organized information on any event related to business.
