Implementation Process of a new Information System

Implementation Process of a new Information System

An information system can be defined as a set of the coordinated network of components, which act together towards producing, distributing and or processing information. An important characteristic of computer-based information systems information is precision, which may not apply to other types.

The implementation process of a new information system: A new information system has been designed, it must be implemented. The system implementation stages involve hardware and software acquisition, software development, testing of program and procedure, development of documentation and variety, of installation activities. It also involves the education and training of end users and specialist who will operate a new system.

Implementation activities are needed transformation a newly developed information system into an operational system for the end user.

Systems implementation is the process of:

  • defining how the information system should be built (i.e., physical system design),
  • ensuring that the information system is operational and used,
  • ensuring that the information system meets the quality standard (i.e., quality assurance).

Finally, Implementation involves a conversion process from the use of a present system to the operation of new or improves the application. Thus, the conversion may involve operating both new and old system in parallel for a trial period operation of a pilot system on a trial basis at one location.
