Simply it is a managerial activity that applies information systems technologies to the task of managing an organization’s data resources to meet the information needs of their business stakeholders. Today’s business enterprises cannot survive or succeed without quality data about their internal operations and external environment. It is the development of data models in order to allow different systems to share data. It is also concerned with both data quality and compatibility between data models. It has three components. These are –
- Database administration;
- Data administration;
- Data planning.
