Define and Describe on Test Cross

Test Cross: When a cross is made between a parental plant having purely recessive symptoms and a plant having unknown characteristics detect the genotype (homozygous and heterozygous) of the offspring of and F1 and F2 generation, it is called Test Cross. Test crosses involve breeding the individual in question with another individual that expresses a recessive version of the same trait

Explanation: If cross is performed between a heterozygous tall pea plant (Tt) and a purely recessive pea plant (tt) their phenotypic and genotype ratio will be 1:1.
