A School Library
A library is a part and parcel of an educational institution. It is a storehouse of knowledge. The library satisfies our eternal knowledge of the unknown and the unseen. It is a place where collections of books are kept for the people to read or borrow. There are usually textbooks, reference books, storybooks, books of drama, novels, daily newspapers, etc. It also contains some rare books on history and culture.
A library plays an important role in the realm of knowledge. A library is a part and parcel of a school. Most of the schools have a separate building for the library. No school is complete without the library. It makes people learned and sophisticated. Everyone should read books including the students because only textbooks cannot provide us with knowledge.
Our school has a big library. We have a big library adjacent to the teacher’s common room. It is housed in two separate two-storied building. The library has a good collection. There are about five thousand books in our library. There are many almirahs. The books are arranged on different shelves according to the subjects. There is a librarian for running a school library. The reading room and the office room of the librarian are separate. The library room is well lighted and spacious. The librarian sits in a corner at a table and maintains strict discipline in the library. The librarian has some assistants. There is a big reading room. The reading room is well furnished. It is well-furnished with big and roundtables. There are also sitting arrangements for the students to study and take down notes.
When we take the help of a catalog, the assistants at once find the book and help us. Students can borrow a book by showing their library card. We are issued library cards. We have issued books on cards for a week. In the reading room, we can read as many books as we like. The very atmosphere of our library is inspiring. A library has certain rules which we are supposed to follow. Silence is a must here. We should remain quiet in the library. Nobody is allowed to make noise. We are very proud of our school library. It is an ideal place to study.
