Acquisition activities of Human Resources

Human Resource Management is the set of activities reaching to procuring, developing, maintaining, and utilizing a group of people for the proper functioning of organization activities and achieving goals. It is the function within an organization that focuses on recruitment of management and providing direction for the people who work in the organization.

Human resource managers and academics have debated for some time the point at which human resource management ends and other functional management begins. Acquisition activities is most important all of them.

Acquisition: It included the activities from Human resource planning to placement as follows:

(1) Human Resource Planning: Human resource manager should plan for appropriate human resource policy in the organization and try to formulate it.

(2) Recruitment: Attracting, hiring and retaining a skilled workforce are perhaps the most basic of the human resources functions. There are several elements to this task including developing a job description, interviewing candidates; making offers and negotiating salaries and benefits.

(3) Selection of efficient employees: Another most important function is to procure efficient employees from the different sources. Not only that, selection of human resources is also important function of Human Resource Management. Only procurement and selection of human resources cannot help achieve the goal of Human Resource Management.

(4) Orientation: An introductory stage in the process of new employee assimilation and a part of his or her continuous socialization process in an organization. Major objectives of orientation are to –

  • gain employee commitment,
  • reduce his or her anxiety,
  • help him or her understand organization’s expectations, and
  • convey what she or he expect from the job and the organization.

It is commonly foamed by nine, tailored to specific job positions.

(5) Placement: Proper guidance and placement can encourage human resources to perform their assignment.
