The tissue system that arises from periblem meristematic tissue and form the whole plant body other than epidermis and vascular bundles is known as ground tissue system.
Structure: This tissue system is composed of general parenchymatous cells. Often parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma can combinedly form this tissue.
Different parts: This tissue is present in almost everywhere in plant body, such as- root, stem, leaf etc.
(a) Ground tissue of leaf: The ground tissue of leaf is named as mesophyll. It may be of two apes:
- Palisade parenchyma
- Spongy parenchyma
(a) Ground tissue of root and stem: It is of two types
- Extra-stelar region from pericycle to outward
- Intra-stelar region From pericycle to inward
