What is Curing?

Curing is the food preservation process. In this process salt are added to the food and the water is removed from food by osmosis. For example, meat is curing by using salt or sugar or using both.

Curing is a term in polymer chemistry and process engineering that refers to the toughening or hardening of a polymer material. Some curing processes require maintenance of a certain temperature and/or humidity level, others require a certain pressure.
