Define and Describe on Dominant Characteristics

Dominant characteristics: If a cross is made between two organisms of contrasting characters, (F1) the entire hybrid offspring’s produced will be externally dominant. A dominant trait is opposed to a recessive trait which is expressed only when two copies of the gene are present.

Explanations: If a cross is made between a homozygous tall ‘TT” and a homozygous dwarf “tt” pea plant all the plants produced in F1 will be tall. Here tall characteristics are dominant over dwarf characteristics. In humans, dark hair is a dominant trait; if one parent contributes a gene for dark hair and the other contributes a gene for light hair, the child will have dark hair.
