Permanent tissue: The kind of tissue in which the cells lose their dividing capacity after originating from the meristematic tissue is known as permanent tissue.
Characteristics:
(i) Cells are usually unable to divide
(ii) Both living and dead cells may be present in the permanent tissue.
(iii) Cell walls are comparatively thick.
(iv) Nucleus is comparatively small
(v) Cell vacuole is large
