According to North Korea’s state-run media, Kim Jong-un intends to develop the “most powerful” nuclear weapons force in the world.
The rogue nation recently conducted a test of a new long-range missile, and on Saturday the Supreme Leader announced his intention to strengthen its defenses.
He described North Korea’s nuclear aspirations in a KNCA news report in which he praised his nation’s “strong” soldiers.
Kim said: “Our relentless work to build nuclear forces to firmly defend the dignity and sovereignty of the state and the people by hundreds of millions of units is the greatest and most important revolutionary cause, and its final goal is to seize the world’s strongest strategic force, absolute power unprecedented in the century.”
The “world’s most powerful strategic weapon,” a brand-new intercontinental ballistic missile named “Hwaseongpo,” was allegedly developed by “reliable leading cadres and scientists in the field of defence science research,” according to Kim’s statement.
“By successfully developing and completing the development of nuclear weapons and making a remarkable leap forward in the development of nuclear weapons, the country’s firm determination and decisive execution power toward the goal of the world’s most powerful military, enormous potential and confident victory are shown to the world without fail,” the statement said.
The test of North Korea’s Hwasong-17 ICBM missile on November 18 is the most recent in a string of military manoeuvres believed to be intended to give the nation more clout in upcoming negotiations. The test’s landing in the Sea of Japan caused panic in Tokyo.
While the missile was being launched, Kim took his daughter to a meeting with missile scientists and even referred to her as his “most beloved” child, sparking speculation among world observers as to whether he was setting her up to succeed him in the future.
She goes by the name Ju Ae and was just featured in fresh state media images for the first time ever. She is thought to be 10 years old.
In the pictures, she can be seen witnessing the launch with her parents and many senior government officials. In another picture, she and Kim can be seen strolling together past a huge missile that is loaded onto a launch vehicle.
