On June 21st, the Next Nintendo Direct will Take Place

This month has already seen a flood of gaming news, but we’re far from done. For one thing, Annapurna Interactive is staging its own expo on June 29th. But first, there’s the tiny matter of a Nintendo Direct. The second full-fledged Direct of 2023 will air on Nintendo’s YouTube channel on June 21st at 10 AM ET.

The showcase will last approximately 40 minutes and will mostly focus on Switch titles that will be released this year. With Nintendo not aiming to deliver a replacement to the Switch until at least next spring, it seems reasonable to begin stretching out the release schedule for the remainder of 2023. At the moment, the only first-party titles on the horizon are Everybody 1-2-Switch! (due out on June 30th) and Pikmin 4. During tomorrow’s Direct, we’ll hear more about Pikmin 4, which will be released on July 21st.

The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet addition will be released in two parts this fall and winter, according to Nintendo. It’s been a long time since we’ve heard anything official about Metroid Prime 4, and a Detective Pikachu game for the Switch has been in the works for years. During the Direct, we may or may not learn more about those.

Meanwhile, Pyoro, a reliable leaker, claims that the showcase would include peeks at a new 2D Mario game and a “remake of a SNES classic.” There’s also the possibility that Hollow Knight: Silksong will make an appearance. In any event, we won’t have to wait long to find out what Nintendo has in store for us.
