Leaf: Pinnately compound or imparipinnate, leaf base is usually swollen.
Flower: Papilionaceous, zygomorphic, partially perigynous.
Corolla: Aestivation- vexillary
Androecium: Stamens (9)+1, diadelphous (two bundles) or monodelphous (one bundle)
Carpel: Monocarpellary (one carpel) ovary –superior
Placentation: Marginal
Fruit: Legume or pod
