Composition of Greenhouse Gas

Composition of Greenhouse Gas

The average temperature of earth is 150C. CFCs Increase the earth’s temperature by Greenhouse effect-as it destroys the ozone layer. One Cl atom in CFC can break ten thousand O3 molecules. 1% loss of O3 corresponds to 2% increase in the effect of UV rays. Gaseous constituents of the atmosphere that absorb and emit infrared radiation responsible for the greenhouse effect. The primary greenhouse gases are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone.”

In South Pole, already the amount of UV rays increase about 5%. If this amount Increases upto 10%, all plankton species will be died. Some degree of greenhouse gases in our environment is only natural — without the greenhouse effect our ecosystem would not be possible.

Composition of Greenhouse Gas:

Greenhouse gases, which include water vapor, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), tropospheric ozone (O3) and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), are relatively transparent to incoming solar radiation but they absorb outgoing infrared radiation emitted from Earth’s surface.

Each greenhouse gas has a different capacity to cause global warming, depending on its properties o radiate, its molecular weight and its lifetime in the atmosphere.

The list of greenhouse gases are given below with their lifetime and GWP (Global Warming Potential) values.
