Gender Discrimination
Gender discrimination means biased behavior against the female. It means the dissimilarity between males and females in admiration of enjoying human rights. Female children, girls, and women are the most awful sufferers and it is very much dreadful that it beings at birth. There are many causes of this social irritation. The society considers women to be weaker in potency and intelligence. So, from the very untimely period, parents take more concern in all deference for the male children. As such a female child cannot expand a strong personality and is not related to decision making.
Social prejudices and customs are liable for our male-dominated society to dishonored women’s situation. The major cause of this undignified condition is that the women are not wage-earners and they have to depend on the male members of the family for their livelihood. Religious misunderstanding and social structures also contribute to it. Parents believe that girls are not appropriate for many jobs. Besides, the parents consider that the male can contribute further to the family. Moreover, in the existing socio-economic system female children are not proper for outside activities and income. The society also thinks that their responsibility is to do domestic chores and care for children. Women are regarded as a burden to their parents. So, they are not permissible to go out of home and are not given the light of education.
Religious misapprehension, social traditions and lack of education are also conscientious for this. On the other hand, female education is very much vulnerable and the female population falls a severe sufferer to our evil dowry system. But because of this discrimination, the nation is getting deprived of the services of the half of its population who are women. When the women will be correctly educated, they will be in a situation to demonstrate their value and then the unfair discrimination against them will automatically disappear.
This hinders nationwide development. This problem cannot be solved suddenly. For this, our viewpoint towards the girls should be changed. This trouble of gender discrimination can be solved by creating broad consciousness among the people about the talents and significance of the female and removing social fallacy existing against them. To solve this problem, we all should come forward and try vigorously. Appropriate education should be ensured for both male and female children. Above all, we will be able to come out of this social nuisance only when we will understand the fact accurately that women are not just women, rather they are human beings.
