Snap and Disney have launched a new partnership to construct a virtual mural using augmented reality at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park. Visitors may utilize Snap’s AR technology to upload images to the Cinderella Castle Mural of Memories in honor of Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary. Customers may pick a photo from a library of Disney characters and icons or utilize their Disney PhotoPass images, which are shot by certified photographers in the park. When visitors visit Magic Kingdom Park, they may add to the mural using the My Disney Experience app. Select “Mural of Memories” from the home screen and hold your phone up to Cinderella Castle once you’re in the app.
You may view the accessible portions of the castle and pick where to pin your photo using the app. You’ll be prompted to select a portrait-oriented photograph from Disney PhotoPass or the in-app gallery. You can also capture and share a video of your mural experience, as well as download two high-resolution, watermark-free copies of your portrait – one without a border and one with a border with your name. These watermark-free pictures would normally cost $16.95. Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Club 33 Members, as well as Disney cast members, can have bespoke borders (park staff).
Disney claims that more portions of the castle will be available for guests to pin their memories as time goes on. It says the photographs will stay online for at least three years. Using the Snap Camera technology incorporated into the My Disney Experience app and Snap’s Camera Kit development tools, visitors can see the whole mural alongside images from other guests.
On Tuesday, Snap announced the creation of a worldwide creative studio to assist businesses in developing augmented reality (AR) advertising and experiences. The new Arcadia studio seeks to assist businesses in creating experiences that can be utilized across online platforms and app-based AR settings. To engage Snapchat’s millennial and Gen Z audience, the studio will collaborate with brands and creators. Verizon, WWE, Shake Shack, and P&G Beauty are among the firms with whom Arcadia has previously collaborated.
