A Fisherman
The man who earns his living by fishing is a fisherman. Generally, a fisherman lives in a village near a river or a sea. They usually live near the rivers and on the bank of the canals. He is hard-working and painstaking. He uses nets and boats in fishing. Most of the fishermen are poor. Some fishermen have nets but no boats. His main profession is to earn his living by catching and selling fish. Some who have boats and nets employ the boat fewer ones and work in a group. The fishermen form a community by themselves. A fisherman is always at work. While at home he repairs his boats or nets and he paints his boats or dyes his nets. During the stormy nights, the members of his family remain anxious for his safe return. He catches fish in the seas, rivers, and beels. His women-folk make new nets; his children dry fishes in the sun and sell them in the market. After all, a fisherman does much good to us by supplying fishes. He also plays an important role to earn foreign currency.
He works hard all day and night. When he catches fish abundantly, he passes their days happily. The life of a fisherman is very risky and challenging because there may have storms and cyclones at any time. Some fishermen go fishing at night; some go fishing in the deep water or in the sea from home for many days. There are some fishermen who go to the deep sea for fishing and spend their days together. When he catches a lot of fish, his joy knows no bounds. After all, a fisherman does much good to us by supplying fishes. But a fisherman has to face many challenges including maritime disasters. Sometimes, the sea turns rough and so they cannot go fishing.
But it is a matter of regret that the overall condition of our fishermen is not satisfactory. In spite of being hard-working, he can hardly make both ends meet. Sometimes the sea becomes suddenly rough and the members of their family remain anxious for their arrival. Sometimes, his life is faced with instant death in the grip of inclement weather when the sea becomes rough. The government should take some steps for the development of a minimum standard of their livelihood. Thus, a fisherman earns his livelihood facing a lot of adverse situations.
