Enzyme: Enzymes are colorless, liquid and protein made substances secreted from exocrine glands which speed up or retardate the rate of chemical reactions and after the reactions, they remain unchanged.
Characteristics of enzyme:
- Enzymes are proteins.
- They are colloidal in nature
- Their activities are controlled by pH
- They are heat sensitive
- A little amount of energy accelerates the rate of chemical reactions but cannot change the state of equilibrium.
- The activities of enzymes are limited, like, a particular enzyme only influences on a particular reaction or a particular group of reactions.
