US-listed SPACs have a new target: Latin American tech companies

Tech firms on the Brazilian Stock Exchange have an unprecedented IPO boom, a converter for a market that traditionally primarily dominated by utilities, mining, oil and financial firms. The trend is going to be strong; In February alone, growth companies such as Bemobi, Westwing, Mobly and Mosaico went public. For example, Mosaico was 20xs subscribed and increased 70% on the first trading day.

The same goes for other companies like Meliuz, NGE and Neogrid, which rose 133%, 53% and 74%, respectively, after listed a few months ago. What is even more surprising is that now the Special Purpose Achievements (SPACs) are raising money from Nasdaq with a mandate to buy Latin American private growth agencies, which would have been completely unimaginable a year ago.

The opportunity to join SPAC has become quite competitive in the United States, as about 300 SPACs, which have raised more than $90 billion, are now competing to find a premature contract. As a result, it has become more common to see specs in order to gain foreign growth firms and benefit from better multipliers to list in the United States.

In 2021 alone, eight Asian-sponsored SPACs on the Nasdaq / New York Stock Exchange raised more than $2.3 billion, already exceeding the full volume of 2020. More recently, it looks like activity levels could raise in Brazil and possibly other Latin American countries. -Centric SPACs have implemented with 1.1 billion.
