Nitric acid is an important chemical in industry. It is used:
- In the manufacture of ammonium nitrate and basic calcium nitrate which are important
- In the manufacture of explosives like (T.N.T), nitroglycerin, etc. and artificial silk, dyes and plastics, and nitro derivatives of organic compounds.
- In the purification of gold and silver.
- As an important reagent in the laboratory and as an oxidizer in rocket
- In the etching of metals.
