The newspaper is a very important thing these days. The word ‘NEWS’ is formed with the initial letters of the following words – North, east, west, and south. It is a first and foremost thing for everyone to start the day. It contains all the news and views of the world. It is better to start our day by filling our minds with fresh news and information. It brings the world to our drawing-room. It makes us confident and helps in improving our personality. As a citizen of the country, we are fully responsible to know all the pros and cons of going in the country or other countries. In a democracy, the press is a link between the government and the people. By giving correct news, it can do a lot of good. But they can also do much harm by giving false news. They can also be used for baseless propaganda by political leaders. It informs us about the current affairs of politics, sports, business, industries, etc.

During the Mughal rule, a kind of manuscript newspaper was in use in the sub-continent. ‘the Indian Gazatee’ published in 1744 was the first printed newspaper. The first Bengali newspaper was, ‘the Samachar Darpan’ published by the missionaries of Serampore.
Newspaper let us know about cultures, traditions, arts, classical dance, etc. It can offer extra knowledge about the world people and their customs and cultures.
